After over 60 years has
the owner of the Oakland Raiders, making 2 moves and winning multiple
championships, Al Davis died at the age of 82. Davis was a NFL visionary and a
true football genius. He actually was one of the main people responsible for
merging the two leagues and forming The NFL many years ago. He is quite
possibly the reason why the NFL is integrated and there are no discriminating
barriers today, being the first to hire black coaches and a mainly black team. First
to hire a black and a Latino head coach and first to place a woman has CEO of
his team.
Davis led his team to 3 Super
bowls and was the leader of the most feared team to ever play in the NFL. He
preached that winning is all that matters, he is quoted saying "Just win,
Baby!"
Davis is leaving behind
a great team that is currently 4-1 and is worth around $761 million. The team
is staying in the Davis family and they have no plan to sell any time soon.
Davis also leaves behind a legacy that few can match, very few people have come
close to contributing to change like Davis did.
